The Southern African Center for Co-operation in Agricultural and Natural Resources Research and Training (SACCAR) invites applications for admission into the Msc degree programme in Agronomy, at The University of Zambia, Lusaka. The Msc programme lasts for two academic years: the first year is devoted to course work and the second to research and thesis preparation.

Admission requirements

Admission into the programme normally requires a minimum of a second class (lower division)/credit Bachelors degree or its equivalent.

The programme

The objective of the programme is to provide students with advanced knowledge of the techniques and principles in plant breeding, crop production, crop protection and management in plant genetic resources. The programme offers four areas of specialisation: Crop Production, Plant Breeding, Crop Protection and Plant Genetic Resources Management. Students with a background in agriculture and crop science are eligible to apply.

  • A one page, type-written statement of how the Msc training will meet your professional objectives, and also contribute to the development of your country.
  • A letter of support from your current employer, if applicable.
