Could Botswana be one of Apple's top national market shares?

A 1994 survey revealed that the Botswana government's installed base of computers was 30% Macs, most of them in schools. The government/public sector is much bigger than the private sector in Botswana. The Mac is also well-represented in the private sector. We believe this makes Botswana Apple's #1 national market share!

OK, there are only 1.5 million people in Botswana, so the absolute numbers represented by a 30% market share are not huge. Still, the government's educators seem very happy with their choice; they keep on purchasing. This is a tremendous vote of confidence in the ease of use, ease of administration, and low costs of ownership which the Mac offers. Bear in mind that Botswana is still not a very wealthy country, that most of the users have not had extensive experience with computers before, and that most of them have English as a second language. No other brand of computer provides the Ministry of Education ~~ or the private schools, most of which also use Macs ~~ with these benefits.
