FRIENDS OF MAITISONG
This is a group of people interested in being identified with and promoting Maitisong. Ditsala has a constitution and a bank account at Barclays Mall Branch, in Gaborone. It has undertaken fundraising events and paid for the re-covering of the seats in the auditorium. A new project to provide a removable sprung wooden floor for the stage is now under way. This will be a great asset and will help entice ballet and other dance companies to Maitisong.'
The aims of Ditsala tsa Maitisong are:
Fund raising events
Ditsala tsa Maitisong has organised many events to raise money. They have usually
taken the form of a performance by a well-known artist in a member's house. The
show has been accompanied by a meal and only a limited number of tickets has
been available.'
The show has been preceeded by a meal and only 100 tickets at P100.00 have been sold. Ditsala aims to hold three of these events per year.
Commemorative Seats Board
Hanging at the entrance of Maitisong is a large board with a plan of the seats in
the auditorium on it. People pay P150.00 to have their names inscribed in gold leaf in one
of the spaces on the board. The money goes to Ditsala tsa Maitisong. About
two-thirds of the spaces have been sold.
