Non Academic Achievements

I also take this opportunity to highlight some of the additional, non-academic achievements of our students in recent months.

Highlights of the recent Sporting and Club Achievements

Legae is one of the few private schools, which takes part in two league games: BISA (Botswana Independent Sports Association) and ISSSA (Independent Secondary Schools Sports Association). The students who participate in BISA have a chance to be selected to participate in the National Team.

Tennis

Our star player, Lefa Sibanda (IG Y1 A) qualified for the singles and also for the mixed doubles, alongside Keabetswe Koorapetse (IG Y1 D). Keabetswe teamed up with Chodiwa Ntibi(2A) and finished first in the girls doubles, while Kopano Modiro-Marata (2A) and Mwansa Chalwe (1B) also secured 1st position in the boys doubles. Parents of Mwansa Chalwe have donated 22 Tennis balls to our Tennis team as a token of appreciation for the commitment of the school to train talented students to help them develop sporting skills and excel at sport. .

Rugby

Our Rugby team (boys) has had a wonderful season. They emerged victorious in most of their games beating Naledi Secondary School, Livingstone Kolobeng College, Moeding College and Molefi Secondary School. The excellent performance of our team has qualified them to compete in the National Quarter- finals to be held in Francistown on the 23rd June 2007.
I am pleased to report that one of our teachers, Mr. Gregory Dube who has been coaching our Rugby team, is now serving the nation as the U/18 National Assistant Coach.

Basketball

Both our Boys and Girls teams qualified for the Top Four in BISA competitions.

Chess

Shubham Chandna (2A) scored 6 points out of 7 games played in the Debswana Junior Individual Chess Championships played at Mater Spei College, Francistown in May. He finished in 15th position overall, winning a chess set as his prize. This is the best performance ever of a Legae Academy student in a national event in chess. Shubham also won the school chess club ladder

Swimming

Two swimmers of our Swimming Team have won medals in the recent Inter Schools Swimming Competitions. They are: Thuto Gaborone (2A – Silver medal) and Tshepo Rapula (2B – Bronze medal).

Hockey

Our Hockey Team emerged victorious in the Hockey Tournament, which took place on Saturday 10 March 2007 in Gaborone.

Netball

In the BISA U17 Netball trials, Gaone Gaborekwa (IGY1 F) has qualified for the final selection
