Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT)
AAT is the professional body for Accounting Technicians. It was
established in the UK in 1980 and is sponsored by the four major chartered
accountancy bodies in the UK. In the 19 years since AAT was founded, the AAT
qualification has become known and recognised in most parts of the world, so
much so that AAT now has over 92 000 members and students worldwide. The
qualification process involves a combination of Central Assessments (exams) and
Devolved Assessment (continuous workplace assessment or simulations). There are
three levels:
Membership of the AAT qualifies you as a licentiate of the BIA.

NOTE:
Full-time courses for Foundation and Intermediate are offered twice a year
starting in January and July leading to the Central Assessments in June and
December. The courses require five months of full-time attendance at BAC. The
current enrollment is 60 students each semester.
Full-time courses for the Technician level run for nine months starting in
February and August each year. The Technician level course involves attending
BAC for four days a week working towards Central Assessments and approximately
two days work placement to work on one project.

Entry Requirements for AAT Courses
In general, to enrol for an AAT course at BAC an applicant must
either:
- be a registered student of AAT
or
- demonstrate their eligibility to register as a student of AAT
or
- have overall Cambridge School Certificate with credit pass in any of the
following combinations: English & Mathematics, English & Accounts,
Mathematics & Commerce or Accounts & Commerce.
and
submit a completed enrolment form indicating an employer or other sponsor
who has agreed to be responsible for the payment of course fees. Photocopies
of relevant documents (school certificates etc) must be provided.
