Reiff Dipl. - Ing Originally founded in 1950, Dorsch Consult Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH ranks as one of the largest and best known consulting engineering companies in Germany today. The company's head office is located in Munich; it deals with both the domestic and foreign markets. The company also maintains branch offices throughout Germany, dealing solely with the domestic markets. In addition, Dorsch Consult owns a number of subsidiary companies in Germany, as well as having a share in some affiliate companies. It has a share capital of 10 million Deutsche Mark. It operates as an independent company and is not connected with any construction company, manufacturer or supplier. The preservation of this independence constitutes an absolute prerequisite for maintaining Dorsch Consult's credibility towards clients. Powers of Innovation The Dorsch Group's 1200 permanent employees include 1000 engineers, architects, economists and development and other planning specialists, who represent the company's real capital. Participation in interdisciplinary teams, coupled with the incorporation of experiences gained from projects in 115 countries, ensures a continuous thrust of innovation and hence serves to enhance each new project which the staff undertakes. Projects Dorsch Consult handles about 300 projects per year, including studies, laboratory tests, expert opinions, guidelines, research work and feasibility studies to development planning, project management, plan approval procedures, preliminary and detailed design, construction supervision and start-up operations as well as maintenance studies and staff training. Project fees vary from a few thousand to tens of million of Deutsche Mark. Clients Dorsch Consult serves public agencies as well as private enterprise. Whereas in Germany clients range from municipal, federal and joint authorities to industrial establishments, most of the company's foreign operations, across 5 continents, involve government projects. Since commencing its foreign activities in 1957, the company has carried out projects financed by such multi-lateral lending institutions as the ADB, AfDB, BERD, EC, EIB, IBRD, IDA, IDB, IsDB and UN as well as by such bilateral institutes as the GTZ and KfW. By always completing even the most complex projects on schedule and within budget, Dorsch Consult has come to enjoy a reputation among its many clients at home and abroad for the highest professional standards. Local Operations The Dorsch Consult Gaborone Office has carried out feasibility studies, designs and supervision in the fields of Water Supply, Sewerage Reticulation, Sewage Treatment, Solid Waste Disposal, Roads and Bridges. Major clients include the Department of Water Affairs and the Roads Department. The capital value of ongoing projects in Botswana as at the beginning of 1998 was approximately Pula 120 million, principally in water supply. Local projects are handled in-country, but with the full technical back-up of the Munich head office, including quality control to ISO 9001 as appropriate. Dorsch Consult has a permanent partnership with HERBCO Technical Services, a truly local company based in Gaborone. HERBCO has handled studies, provided expert opinions and guidelines, undertaken feasibility studies for development planning, carried out preliminary and detailed designs and has provided construction supervision, start-up operations and staff training. HERBCO has been involved mainly in serving public agencies in Botswana. Clients have included Government departments, namely, Civil Aviation, Roads and Water Affairs. All projects undertaken have been completed to the full satisfaction of the clients.
